Some briefs you don't think twice about. Convert a WWII bunker into a wine cellar, bar and home cinema - we're in!

Below ground, metre-thick concrete walls and the absence of natural light stopped being constraints the moment we decided to lean into them. The wartime bunker - cool, dark, deliberate - turned into a grown-up lair complete with its own tasting room. The exposed concrete the only nod to its past.

Above ground, the middle floor is pure function made fun— a spacious garage and games room. A deliberate buffer between the two worlds above and below it.

At the top, the mood reverses entirely. A zinc-clad terrace opens the whole thing up, offering panoramic views, natural light. It’s a place where the adults can reclaim the evening, Bordeaux in hand, as the sun sinks into the sea.

Dark below, light above – this brief was all about contrast (and providing a home for those fine Bordeaux’s)
